Relaxation/Guided Meditation Class
This 45 minutes class is suitable for complete beginners or for those who already have a regular relaxation practice.
Types of relaxation techniques will include:
- Autogenic relaxation. Autogenic means something that comes from within you. In this relaxation technique, you will repeat words or suggestions in your mind that may help you relax and reduce muscle tension.
- Progressive muscle relaxation. In this relaxation technique, you will focus on slowly tensing and then relaxing each muscle group. This can help you focus on the difference between muscle tension and relaxation. You can become more aware of physical sensations.
- Visualisation. In this relaxation technique, you will be guided on a visual journey to a peaceful, calming place or situation.
In the beginning, you may find yourself falling asleep as your body takes the opportunity to catch up on much needed rest. Over time, that will decrease and you may find yourself dropping into a deeply relaxed state where you have the opportunity to connect more deeply with your body and the ruminations of your mind. Whatever you get from the practice is perfect for you. For some people it can be quite transformational as they start letting go of unnecessary stresses in their life to make way for more of what makes their souls sing.
The best way to experience this class is to lay down in which case you will need a yoga mat or similar to lie on. Equally you can remain seated. Please bring pillows, blankets and anything else that helps you feel warm and snugly and ready to relax.
